Bethel CARES about Wilmington!
Every Tuesday & Thursday at 12PM we give away Sandwiches and Homemade Soup. ALL ARE WELCOME. 604 N. Walnut Street, Wilmington, DE 19801
Community Action
We exist to give voice to the voiceless. Oppression is real, and many people don’t have advocates in place to fight for them. Bethel truly CARES, and desires for everyone to have an equal opportunity in Delaware.
Redevelopment
One of the keys to unlocking generational wealth is home ownership. We exist to help close the racial and economic gap, and to eliminate the barriers that make home ownership unattainable for many.
Economic Solutions
Knowledge is power, and we exist to educate the community about wealth building. Financial literacy should not exist only in the communities of the wealthy. Our programs will make sure people learn about financial management.
OUR PROGRAMS
Bethel CARES about Hunger
Our Lunch Program serves almost 14,000 sandwiches a year, and almost 5,000 cups of soup a year. 24% of the residents of Wilmington meet the poverty guidelines, and over 65% of those are minority (56.7% African American.) While we work to dismantle the systemic issues that cause poverty, we are dedicated to also making sure hungry Wilmington residents eat. Our next goal is expanding our program to 6 days a week.
“30 by ‘30” Housing Initiative
Our goal is to aid 30 individuals and families in acquiring affordable housing by 2030. We have established an audacious goal because we understand the need is urgent. Through partnerships with the city, state, and federal government, the city of Wilmington will be stronger because more of her citizens will be home owners. Ultimately, our objective is to create more affordable housing and cultivate self sufficiency though home ownership. Housing and rent insecurities are still a major barrier to low and middle income Wilmingtonians.
